2024-25 CMC Gatherings
Subject to change.
September 12th
  • Ryan Redman, The Power of Mindfulness In Psychedelics: Bearing in Mind the Insights that Transform.
The origin of Mindfulness in Sanskrit comes from the word smrti, "to remember to observe.” In medicine work, we often arrive at very helpful understandings only to lose sight of them hours, days, weeks, or months later. Developing a strong foundation of mindfulness facilitates our remembering; our living into the change that is offered us.

Ryan Redman studies and teaches contemplative-based traditions, dedicating his adult life to exploring the interrelationship of heartmind cultivation and personal and planetary wellbeing.
October 10th
  • Join us for an interactive, group discussion about preparing for a journey. For this gathering, we invite you to bring a meaningful object you intentionally place in a sacred, or perhaps mundane, environment. In addition, as we prepare for upcoming CMC events, please arrive with some ideas to share about what you enjoy and want more of at our collective meetings.
November 14th
  • Claudia Nanino. Breathwork 101
Claudia is a Denver-based master breathwork facilitator, crystal curator, and an explorer of non-ordinary states of consciousness (aka psychonaut). In our time together, she will share education on breath awareness and best practices, offering easy modifications that can have a significant impact on your wellbeing.  We will discuss conscious breathwork, a deeper breath technique that allows you to access an altered state of consciousness for healing. It can create experiences that are similar and complimentary to psychedelic experiences.  We will discuss how it can be used as a preparation and integration tool, as well as an alternative to entheogens, and will even discuss how well it does or doesn't combine with psychedelics. We will end with experiencing different simple techniques for everyday use.
Claudia comes to the Sun Valley area several times a year to provide individual, couples and group breathwork sessions. You can learn more about her here.
December 12th
  • The December gathering will be an end-of-year potluck and social.🥳
Please bring an appetizer or snack or whatever to share.
Tea will be provided. Plates, cups, and flatware are available. If you need anything more than that for your offering, please provide.
January 9th
  • Susan Aiken. Susan Aiken is a Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, CPT, who specializes in Internal Family Systems (IFS, aka “Parts work”). She will discuss its effectiveness and particularly how it can be used to support psychedelic therapy. Richard Schwartz, the founder of IFS, has noted that parts often come up organically in journeys. She will share the basics as well as an interactive exercise.
February 13th
  • Susan Aiken. Part II. In Part II of IFS and Psychedelics, Susan (see above) will continue to help us explore the Internal Family System of Parts with a short review of parts, answering questions, and guiding some experiential exploration of our own parts.
March 13th
  • Tony Tekaroniake Evans
Local CMC community member, Tony Tekaroniake Evans, is an author and journalist who considers storytelling to be culture-medicine. He will tell stories from his latest book, a memoir: "Believing in Indians, a Mixed Blood Odyssey," that involve pivotal moments of change thanks to mind-enhancing experiences.
April 10th
  • Annie Oak Harrison
Annie Oak Harrison is a San Francisco-based journalist seasoned in reporting on and organizing in the space of psychedelics and society. In 2020 she co-founded and is managing editor of Lucid News, a leading publication dedicated to covering developments in the psychedelic ecosystem with integrity and depth. Harrison brings decades of experience in investigative reporting and storytelling, with her work featured in prominent outlets such as The Guardian and Wired. Recognizing the growing importance of psychedelics in mental health, science, and culture, she launched Lucid News to provide accurate, thoughtful, and nuanced coverage of this emerging field.

Her organizing in the space is mainly in the areas of community building and harm reduction in non-therapeutic spaces, where the majority of the use of medicines occurs. She will speak to us about her experience in these areas, including what conversations, events, and engagement are taking place in other communities (both large and small) and what we might want to think about in our community. She’ll also share tips for harm reduction as we navigate use in our community and for those who travel to other communities.

A frequent conference presenter, she will have recently returned from speaking at the Psychedelics as Medicine Conference in Iceland and the Chacruna Conference in the Bay Area. We are excited and honored for her to share her experience, expertise, and most recent learnings with us.
May 8th
  • Cacao Ceremony and Community Building Circle.
We will have some journaling prompts and discussions, and a large group discussion regarding this past year and what you’d like to see develop in the CMC next year.  Please feel free to bring a journal; paper and pens will be available.
