Consciousness Medicine Collective Guidelines
Practice mindful listening: Allow others to speak without interrupting, judging, refuting, or invalidating, while monitoring your own thoughts, feelings or reactions that can get in the way of listening.
Practice mindful speech: Before you speak, you might skip a beat and give it space. Consider if it is useful, timely, and supportive for understanding and community.
Speak your truth: Speak about your own experiences and responses. Avoid adding another voice to the echo chamber of hearsay. One way to make this easier is to use “I” statements instead of “you” or “we” statements.
Step up / Step Back: If you often hesitate to speak, use this welcoming group as an opportunity to step forward. If you tend to speak often or at length, consider stepping back and giving others a chance.
No commercials: This is a non-transactional community of peers sharing experiences and connecting. Lean into being an explorer, apprentice, or mentor, not a salesperson. For professionals, your experience is more important than your role.
Confidentiality: Don't share other’s experiences without their permission. If you want to follow up with anyone regarding something they said in this session, ask first and respect their wishes. Do not mention the CMC on any form of social media or publication. Growth should happen via word-of-mouth.
*In the future, the founders will begin selectively informing the greater community through select media channels.
Safety: The future of these gatherings depends on everyone being mindful of the current legal landscape. Please do not arrange any transactions of illegal substances during the meeting. Anything that risks the safety of the group is unacceptable. If you are in doubt, don’t say or do it.
